Want to know how to make your Valentine’s Day Proposal feel extra special? This is the tested-and-approved Valentine’s Day Proposal you need to know about.

A Valentine’s Day proposal is extra exciting, and if you’re anything like me, you’re doing all the research possible to make it the most memorable day of your life. As a newly engaged woman myself, I am sharing all the details of how my boyfriend, who is now my fiancé, proposed on my birthday, which also happened to be Valentine’s Day.
You will learn about all the little things he did to make my birthday and Valentine’s Day proposal the most magical and special day, including a homemade birthday breakfast, Valentine’s Day Red Roses, proposal decorations, and more.
This post is all about the most special Valentine’s Day proposal.

There is no better way to start the day than with a homemade birthday breakfast.
Joe, my fiancé and the chef in the house, made a decadent Valentine’s Day/birthday breakfast, which included:
He added candles to the tiramisu, my birthday cake, and our little family sang “Happy Birthday” to me. After blowing out so many candles, the fire alarm was almost triggered; he had some special gifts lined up.

My mom always says that every girl deserves a dozen red roses on her birthday and on Valentine’s Day. Even if you can’t afford it, at least purchase one red rose to show her how meaningful she is to you. Remember, it’s the thought that counts.
I LOVE flowers, roses especially, so much that I gave my daughter a middle name with floral inspo. This bouquet was extra meaningful, so I pressed the petals between two heavy textbooks to save them forever.

Since my birthday always falls on Valentine’s Day, Joe and I started a new tradition of celebrating Valentine’s Day on another day. This year, we exchanged Valentine cards and gifts on Friday after the kids got home from school.
On Saturday morning, I opened my birthday card with a handwritten note and gifts, which were really meaningful. Joe got me an Apple Pencil for the iPad he got me for Christmas, and a gift card to my favorite coffee shop, Starbucks.

I knew we were going to the Valentine Tea at the Grand America hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, so I wanted to splurge on a birthday treat to myself and had my hair professionally curled and styled at a salon. It worked out so perfectly to have gorgeous hair for tea and our proposal pictures.
Even though Valentine’s Day fell on a Saturday, I set an alarm for my day off to have my hair professionally styled at 9:00 am. If you live in Utah County, you know how bustling Saturdays are, and I was able to avoid traffic and the busiest times at the salon.
I showed the stylist my dress and let her know I was considering a romantic updo or a half-up, half-down style with braids and a matching bow, and she recommended the latter.

The proposal decorations were a thoughtful touch and showed how much effort was put into planning. My fiancé had help from his family to set it up, which is why I was so surprised he pulled it off.
Here are the proposal decorations my fiancé used:

Is it really a Valentine’s Day proposal if you don’t have a heart engagement ring?
I love unique engagement rings, and I was not so subtle about engagement ring ideas ranging from colorful jewels to heart shapes (since my birthday is on Valentine’s Day).
I was lucky enough to have my 2-carat heart engagement ring custom-made at Jonathan’s Jewelry in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.

If there is one detail you must have, it’s hiring a professional photographer to photograph your proposal. You will always treasure the moments leading up to and after the grand proposal.
It’s the start of a new chapter, and you will want to document it so it can become a family heirloom.
